Somehow we missed most of "camping season" here in Colorado. We finally got up to the mountains for an overnighter last night. Riley was a good camper last year. And she's such an easy-going kid anyway, we weren't too worried about her enjoying it. So Asher's take on the experience was the big unknown.
He enjoyed watching us set up camp from the comfort of his car seat. Asher has always enjoyed being outside, so we weren't surprised that he really enjoyed the evening.
Riley was interested in everything: the tent, the "beds" we made inside of it, the campfire, but especially the nearby river.
There was a private trail from our campground down to the river, and we walked down there several times.
Asher was fascinated by the sound of the rushing water, and Riley had a great time throwing rocks and then splashing around. We didn't play in it too long, since the water was pretty cold.
In my book, a camping trip isn't complete without s'mores. I think after last night I have convince Riley of the same.
Unfortunately we didn't take any photos this morning. Texas seems to have ruined us for camping, and we didn't expect the morning to be as cold as it was. We broke camp quickly headed to a diner not far from the mouth of the canyon. There we ate a fantastic breakfast and made plans for our next camping trip.

Those s'mores look even better than the oven ones you made for us. I'm envious. Glad you all had a good time.
That sounds like fun! We did not attempt a camping trip this summer. Maybe next year!
