Update on Tyson in Korea

Several people have asked if there have been any updates on Tyson and progress for him to come home. We found out recently that Korea has delayed granting exit permissions (EP), which is practically the last step so that he can come home. The reasons for the delay are described pretty well here.

When EPs were being granted on a regular schedule, we expected for our group's EPs to start being processed about now, and after 4-6 weeks, the kids would join our families. The EP requests for families that were matched last September started in May, but that's when Korea stopped working on them for a while. I read one place where they thought they would start up again in late July, but apparently that became delayed as well.

So, once they start granting EPs again, the September group will be done, then the October group the next month, then our group (who were matched in November). At best, that would mean that they would start our EPs in September and we could go over and get Tyson in October, but perhaps that is a little optimistic with everything that is going on.

Obviously, we are hopeful and have faith that everything will go according to God's plan, but we sure want to bring Tyson home. It was hard telling Riley yesterday that Tyson probably wouldn't be coming home in September as she was disappointed. The kids are excited for him to come home. Asher taught himself how to buckle himself in his car seat because Becca told him that it'd be harder for her to reach his seat with Tyson in the car. They both pray for him to be happy and healthy.

We'd appreciate your prayers, but more importantly, Tyson could use them as well as all the other kids that are waiting. Due to this delay and other recent decisions, the agencies are at capacity and have had to turn away some expectant birthmothers. These kids need a home and a permanent family and there are people waiting for them to join their families, so let's pray that the Korean official's hearts are softened and that the waiting kids will be healthy and happy and that their foster families will be blessed for their service and sacrifice.
