Happy Winter Solstice

In honor of Winter Solstice and the longest night of the year, we had a candlelight dinner tonight. The food wasn't fancy, but the candles were a huge hit. Tyson exclaimed "buffday!" as soon as they were lit, and mentioned it several times during dinner. After everyone was done eating and we were ready to blow the candles out, I decided to go along with the unintentional birthday connection. We put a candle in front of each kid, sang "happy birthday, dear Jesus," and then we each blew out our candle. 

I knew the kids were enjoying it, and midway through dinner I had the thought that we should do this again next year. Asher's comment a moment later sealed the deal: "Mom, this dinner with candles makes me happy."
