A month ago we discovered that Riley had a new tooth growing in behind her still-stable baby teeth. I gave Riley the assignment of wiggling the baby tooth in front of it every morning on the way to school. She took the project seriously, and later informed me that she wiggled it at night in her bed too. Her diligence paid off, and she pulled her first tooth out by herself, over her bathroom sink, on Sunday morning. She enthusiastically pointed it out to everyone she saw at church that afternoon. Because that permanent tooth had already grown in so far, she really never had a gap.
