She's playing on her own so well now. Last week she entertained herself with a few toys, her Bumbo, and her reflection in the window for about an hour with hardly any interaction (or intervention) from us. She loves taking a toy in each hand and banging them together.
We installed a baby gate over a month ago because she discovered the stairs. She didn't have much trouble figuring out how to climb them. Since going back down has been a greater challenge, Scot and her aunts Shana and Courtney have been helping Riley figure out how to turn around and go back down backwards. It's helped that her Grandparent's family room is four steps below the entryway, so she's had a great opportunity to practice since we've been here.
She babbles (loudly) a lot, and has been making all sorts of new noises. Her latest is making a chirping noise by vibrating her lips together. She's been saying dadada and mamama for a while, along with all her other nonsensicle noises. But in the last couple of days she's made those noises in contexts that make us think she might know what they mean. I guess we'll just wait and see.
