Riley has been standing more lately. She still is nervous about taking her first step, but she cruises pretty quickly when she puts one hand on things, like the ottoman or fireplace hearth. She can let go with her hand and stand, or push herself up from a squatting position, which is more than her mommy can do because of her crackly old lady knees.
Riley also loves music and to dance. She especially loves music with hard beats. When she hears this, she starts bobbing her head or body and waving her arm up and down. This is especially funny when she has an audience, like in a grocery store or at the mall.
One particular piece of music that she loves is the Little People song (on the Fisher Price website). Becca went to this site one day when Riley was being whiny, and she immediately stopped and smiled and squealed. She recognizes the picture on the computer now and even gets impatient while the page is loading. Just think if we didn't have DSL!
Riley started shaking her head a week or two ago (she also nods, but less frequently). We didn't want her to know that it meant no, but we figured out that she picked it up when Becca told her, "no, no." So, now she now understands the association and shakes her head when she is done eating or generally is not happy with what is going on (or, when we prompt her to do it).

I really enjoyed her rockin' out to a little Britney Spears, she is also a great booty shaker, it must run in the family...
