He's only one month away from a year and he hasn't shown any interest in walking yet. But Asher can do some very fun things. He signs "more" and "all done". He can clap and wave and give high-fives. And he has learned to climb stairs. Maybe next month I'll be able to report that he can go down them too.
Asher has perfected the open-mouth kiss, and will give them to Mommy and Daddy on request. He says his most recent word, "baby," most often when he's snuggling with me. I don't think he knows what it means, but he says it so sweetly that it doesn't much matter to me.
He is much more interested in our dog, Bernie, than Riley was at this age. Last night we drove around to look at Christmas lights. Instead of sitting on the seat between the carseats, Bernie climbed onto Asher's carseat, circled around a couple of times, and settled down on top of Asher's legs. We all thought Asher would protest, but he just grinned at Bernie and made happy squealing noises. They rode that way for quite a while, until Asher's legs presumably started to fall asleep. At that point the squealing turned to yelling, and we made Bernie move back into his own spot.
Asher is a healthy, happy kid who loves books, being held, being able to feed himself, tipping over Bernie's water bowl, and making noise. He loves attention from his sister, and will occasionally get into the toys she is playing with at the time just to get a little of it.
