Chimney Rock

Since I am heading back to Austin next week, we decided to take a little weekend vacation. We headed out to western North Carolina. On Saturday, we drove out and checked into our cabin and then headed over to Chimney Rock. We hiked to it and then took a 3 mile hike to a 414' waterfall (the picture is just a smaller fall above the big drop). They filmed 'The Last of the Mohicans' here.

Formation: Devil's Head

Paul carried Parker on his back, which he loved (Parker, not so much for Paul). It got a little interesting when we went through some spots that were barely shoulder width wide. In the evening, we drove to Asheville and drove a little of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The next day, Camden panned for gems and we drove on the Blue Ridge Parkway to Mount Mitchell, which is the highest elevation in the east.
