Exciting Summer

It has been an eventful summer for us, and now that it's coming to an end I thought I would make a list of the highlights:
  • We planted a garden in the spring and had a summer full of spinach, lettuce, and snap peas. Plus we still have pumpkins and butternut squash to look forward to!
  • We bought a Wii, and Riley learned to do yoga.
  • Asher began sleeping through the night consistently.
  • We spent as much time as we could at outdoor concerts and festivals.
  • Riley became "potty-trained" in less than four (intense) days!
  • Asher became a fun little boy, full of smiles and laughs...especially for his sister.
  • Becca took both kids on an 8+ hour road trip to Utah without any adults along to help her stay sane.
  • Riley rode a pony, although she seems to prefer the fiberglass horse at the grocery store.
  • Riley went to a rodeo for the first time. It was there that her obsession with tractors began.
  • Asher and Riley had their first experience at a water park.
  • Asher learned to roll from tummy to back and then back to tummy.
  • Riley learned to get out of her pajamas and dressed all by herself.
  • Asher was "weaned" from his pacifier.
  • Riley learned what hiking is, and the whole family enjoyed some local natural beauty at Rocky Mountain National Park.
  • Becca finished the requirements for graduation before we left Austin, but her diploma finally arrived in the mail, making her feel officially like a college graduate.
  • Asher's adoption was finalized mid-July.
  • Asher started sitting up by himself and was a pro at it right away.
  • We took a family vacation to Florida, where we joined Scot's family in celebrating Granddad's 80th birthday.
  • Riley and Asher took their first ride in a ski boat, and Becca and Scot water skied for the first time in years.
  • Asher was sealed to our family for eternity in the Denver temple.
  • We saw Asher's birth family again for the first time since placement.
  • Becca and her siblings were able to get nearly everything wrapped up related to their Dad's estate.
  • We learned that Asher loves peaches (and not much else); Riley loves bok choy (and just about everything else).
  • Asher has two bottom teeth, can scoot forward using his arms and toes, and is just starting to crawl.
  • We took advantage of our proximity to the mountains by camping a couple of times.
